Team Update

Sorry I have been a little behind in getting updates posted up on here... real life has been keeping me swamped.

So here we go. We have been on 3 investigations as of now two of which have been to the same location because we just couldn't resist going back into the second location because of the amount of personal experiences. Part of the team is going on a joint investigation this weekend with part of WPRS which is the big local team... it is going to be a big location and we just don't have the equipment for a large location so we are calling in some back up.

Now I do also have a sad bit of news to share with everyone... Josh who is one of our co-founders has chosen to step away from the team for personal reasons. He will always be a co-founder with me no matter what. I am not taking that away from him and we do wish him the best in wherever life takes him.

Orb Activity

I am borrowing this from Sherrie Curry from WPRS. This is a great explanation.
Just sharing...this comes up almost every day. Not starting any discussion or anything...just educating the masses. You can believe what you want to believe.
"ORB" CAUSE #1 - Dust particles (or moisture, or pollen, etc.) floating in the air very close to the camera can be lit up by the camera's flash. The light of the flash hits these floating particles, which are completely out-of-focus due to their close proximity to the camera. This results in a translucent whitish spot on the image of the camera. It appears to be "in the picture" when in fact the dust, moisture, or pollen causing the "orb" is within inches of the camera's lens. When using a video camera, the light or IR beam of the camera can cause this same effect...except the "orb" moves through the video shot.
"ORB" CAUSE #2 - Another cause for photographic "orbs" is refracted light. When the flash goes out and hits a reflective surface, it reflects back to the lens and causes a refraction of light within the lens. When the photo is taken, the film captures the dot of refracted light on the lens as if it is part of the scene being captured in the photo.
"ORB" CAUSE #3 - Digital cameras, especially digital cameras below 5 megapixels, can "create" orbs in the photograph in low-light conditions. In low light conditions, the digital camera can cause errors when capturing the photo...and the errors appear as "orbs" in the photos. These digital orbs will often have an interesting pattern or texture to them. Dust orbs taken with a digital camera can also have an interesting pattern or texture to them.

First Investigation... Check

We had our first investigation last night (yes in the middle of the week) and everything seemed to go really good. Not a whole lot of actual activity going on in the building but that doesn't mean that we didn't catch anything on one of the EVP recorders we had going.

So now on to the long process of listening to hours of digital audio to see if there is anything there. And time to prepare for the next investigation on the 30th. This is going to be a BUSY 2 weeks.

I also want to take a moment to announce our first "part-time" team member Brian Swearingin to the team. I have known him for several years and he has a ton of experience with being on different teams in the past. He will be a great asset to DKP.

Meetings.. meetings everywhere...

Hey gang... it has been a busy busy few days for DKP. No investigations yet but this past Saturday we had our first full team meeting so we all got to meet each other and have a good time discussing a few ground rules, the dos and donts of EVP, dream equipment and a few other things. We hashed out a short list of potential places in town that we would love to go in and investigate.

Now fast forward to today... I just had a great meeting with a client and it had turned into a 3 for 1 swing. This one meeting has landed us 3 places to go in and investigate. Now before you even ask... no I am not going to divulge where the investigations are going to take place. just be happy knowing that if the claims that I was told tonight are true... we are going to be in for a lot of fun.

Welcome to the team

Hey gang... I just wanted to throw up a quick post to let everyone know that we have 2 new team members rounding out the team to 4. I would like to welcome Hanna Pummill and Genesis Bolyard to the team. Out of all of the people interested in joining the team and that got their applications sent back in they look to be the best fit for the team.

For upcoming events for us... right now we just have a full team meeting scheduled for this weekend which I am looking forward to. I think once the whole team can sit down and discuss a list of potential investigation sites we can start investigating soon.

So if you want or need us to come out and investigate cause you have paranormal happenings that you want answered drop us an email at dark.knights.paranormal@gmail.com and one of the team members will get right back with you to possibly set things up for the team to come and investigate.

About Josh

Josh first came across the paranormal in 2006, while working as a Security Officer at a Metal Finishing plant. Soon after that he began to have experiences at a Heart Hospital and a few other places he was called in to work security for. While not having much in the way of "professional experience" he has gone as a guest on a hunt with the WPRS and done several solo investigations.

Josh is a dedicated Father and Husband and is very dedicated to helping others as well as teaching others about the paranormal, even as he learns new things about it for himself. His investigation style is one that he believes that the paranormal can't harm you and that for him going on investigations is like a social even where you get to meet new people... just these are people you can't necessarily see. His training in law enforcement and security work will really come in handy as it comes time to start looking for rational real world causes for stuff. He is also very open to learn and try new styles of investigation because he loves learning the about the unknown and investigating the things that go bump in the night.

About Chris

Chris has been a member of WPRS* (which is the only TAPS family group here in Kansas) for a short while and has also been on a few other "ghost hunts" with friends since parting ways with WPRS. He has been interested in the paranormal for well over a decade. Several years ago after having a paranormal encounter of his own that has been experienced by others, Chris has wanted to really go deep into the field and learn all that he can while helping others.

Chris has a firm belief that 99% of "orbs" caught on camera are either dust particles floating through the air or they are out of focus bugs. And you will be hard pressed to tell him otherwise... even if your orb picture looks like it has a face. He also believes that "provoking" is a waste of time if just sit there and shout for no reason.

About Us

We are a new Paranormal Research group in Wichita, Kansas Founded in September 2012 by Chris West and Josh Clark. The two of us have been friends since High School and we both share a love for all things paranormal.  We are here to investigate claims of paranormal activity and debunk what can be debunked as well as file away interesting and unexplained happenings for further research. We want to help those in need.
